Custom Woods headshots in Topeka, KS

A lifestyle headshot shoot in Topeka

I was thrilled to meet Caroline Gray from Custom Wood Products at a Greater Topeka Partnership meet up event. She was excited to learn that I was a professional headshot photographer in Topeka as she was updating all of her cabinet and closet designers headshots. I was invited to come to their stunning designer showroom in Topeka to photographer her designers in their many inspiration kitchens and offices.

We wanted to create a natural look to their headshots and create a beautiful setting to show off her team and their quality custom cabinets. The beauty of lifestyle headshots for your brand or business is that you get to add context to your headshots. I think context helps to tell your story, share you location, and honestly lifestyle headshots tend to relax people more.

Caroline was amazing to work with. She was highly engaged and excited about the images as we were taking them. Her staff of about 14 designers all took turns in different kitchen and offices areas in their Topeka showroom. I loved having the owner there to get immediate feedback on tweaks to the composition. As the owner she knows how she wants her products to be photographed, the kind of welcoming looks she wants her designers to have, and most importantly — how these images are going to be used. After all, how the image are used played a huge part in how and why were are taking them.

How we work with owners during a lifestyle headshot shoot

Getting a brand owners immediate feedback is so key to getting a great final product. In order to get the most out of a session we prep prior to the session when possible to make sure we as the photographer and you as the brand owners are on the same page. This may look like a site visit to see the shooting locations, inspiration boards so we know what kinds of vibe you are wanting, and where your images are going to go. A banner image needs be be photographed differently than an image going to be used as an ad for an Instagram story. Knowing all of these things ahead of time ensures we pack the right gear and deliver the kind of art direction you need for your shoot.

We also give the brand owner a front row seat to the shoot by showing them their images on an iPad during the shoot. This larger version helps them see any elements that need to be fixed and confirms the shoot is going amazing!

What we deliver from our Lifestyle Headshot Session

We delivered an online shareable and downloadable gallery with multiple options for each staff member. I know that when large teams are involved having more options is always best. As web and marketing designers use images different orientations, expressions, negative space, and color can impact the overall design. We also want your team to have options to pick their favorites from the gallery.
